Danish director Carl Dreyer’s 1928 film "The Passion of Joan of Arc" is not only one of the visual landmarks of the silent era, but is a deeply disturbing portrait of a young woman’s persecution in the face of the male judges and priests of the ruling order. The actress Maria Falconetti gave one of the most profoundly affecting performances in the history of cinema as the Maid of Orleans.

The Publicist Awards Committee will be selecting nominees for the Maxwell Weinberg Publicists Showmanship Award for Television on Thursday, Nov. 9. 

Marking its 21st year, the ECA competition has come of age, drawing another capacity crowd to the DGA venue and set to go on tour with screenings and award ceremonies at the SVA Theatre in New York City on October 29, at SCADshow in Atlanta on November 5 and at The Logan Theatre in Chicago on November 12.

Due to the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey, the IATSE will donate $10,000 to the Walsh/DiTolla/Spivak Foundation to provide financial assistance to affected IATSE members and their families.

The IATSE issued a statement on the events that took place in Charlottesville, Virginia this past week.

In a surprise victory, cinematographer John Bailey has been elected the 36th president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the organization that annually presents the Oscars for excellence in filmmaking.

The IATSE continues its strike against Head Shop LLC's production of "HeadShop," shooting in Los Angeles. The producers have refused to sign a collective bargaining agreement to cover our work, and are still shooting with a nonunion crew that has crossed the IATSE picket line.
